HISTORY OF EPPING FOOTBALL CLUB
27 Apr 2008

Epping Football Club was formed in 1948 as Coopersale FC, playing within the village of Coopersale , on the outskirts of Epping. The clubs early years were spent playing in the Harlow & District Football league. Around about 1972 the club moved to it's current location at Stonards Hill, Epping, playing on one of the outer lying pitches. The tenant of the main pitch in those days was Epping Town FC, who were then playing in the Athenian League. In 1976 the club successfully gained admittance to the Essex Olympian League. In 1985 saw the demise of Epping Town FC who were at the time members of the Isthmian League (currently Ryman League), due to financial difficulties. This left Coopersale FC as the town's senior football side. The club subsequently took over custody of the main pitch, where the 1st and reserve teams continue to play to this day. Unfortunately the main stand had to be dismantled for safety reasons and recently the floodlights also had to go for the same reason.

In 1992 Coopersale FC became Eppingsale FC, in order to identify more with the town of Epping, before changing to it's current name of Epping Football Club in 1999.
