Essex Olympian Football League

Reserve Division One

Galleywood 0    v    Epping 3

A great first half performance by Epping produced three stunning goals of the highest quality. On a difficult pitch Epping played some superb one touch football which drew compliments from the Galleywood clubhouse. One Galleywood representative pointing out that its nice to see a team get on with it rather than complain about the pitch!. It was a return to the slick passing that had been so prevalent in the season up until january. Pete Beaumont was once again looking sharp and Andy Mavin was looking good in the centre of the park. Sam Shepherd looked sharper and Russ Geraghty despite his juvenile moments continued his recent run of good form. Special praise should be given to Nick Dainton and Chris Benn. Nick Dainton filled in at left back and once agaion proved size does not matter in football ability does. His football ability made it a doddle for him and certainly brought out the best in Pete Beaumont as neat one twos baffled the opposition. Chris Benn was outstanding at centre half. His great attitude in filling in was superceded by the fact he completed the game on one leg after a bad knock just before half time. His great attitude was supported by a great performance from the team .

The first goal came from an expertly crossed ball by Dainton to his best friend Mavin's nut and no mistake. The second highlighted the contribution James Kelly makes to this team . To all as the ball rolled to the touchline it was a lost cause. Other than Kelly. He chased and harried until he managed to win the ball cross it and Beaumont slotted it in . An equally splendid third was converted by Mavin . Grey and Harper held strong at the back during the second period with Gormley a constant thorn in the home teams side Epping should have scored more : but after two defeats its a good return to form and some of the football played was outstanding.

Team: Buttigieg, Harper, Dainton, Mavin, Grey, Shepherd, Geraghty, Beaumont, Kelly, Benn, Gormley.

Scorers: Mavin 2 and Beaumont
